Manama: Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the King Hamad Global Center for Coexistence and Tolerance (KHGC), chaired the Centre’s fourth regular meeting. The meeting featured extensive discussions on key programmes, future priorities, and ongoing partnerships, aimed at bolstering the Centre’s role as a global leader in promoting peace, understanding, coexistence, and dialogue among civilisations, while actively countering hate speech.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Muneera Nofal Al Doseri, Executive Director of the Centre, delivered a comprehensive presentation highlighting major achievements and upcoming projects of KHGC. She stressed the Centre’s dedication to transforming values into sustainable practices with tangible impacts. The chairman reiterated the Centre’s ongoing commitment to advancing educational and awareness initiatives that promote a culture of peace, dialogue, and human coexistence, aligning with the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed extended congratulations to His Majesty the King and HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister on the occasion of International Day of Peaceful Coexistence. This day, adopted by the United Nations General Assembly following a draft resolution from the Kingdom and initiated by KHGC, is rooted in the royal vision that champions coexistence and respect for religious and cultural diversity.
The chairman expressed pride in the alignment of the first global observance of this international day with the Year of Isa Al Kabeer, which reflects Bahrain’s historical commitment to coexistence, established by His Highness Isa Al Kabeer, Ruler of Bahrain and its Dependencies. This commitment is maintained through principles of justice, tolerance, and respect for diversity, further extended under the humanitarian approach of His Majesty the King and the directives of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed thanked the Deputy Chairman and Board of Trustees for their support of the Centre’s mission, and welcomed Al Doseri as Executive Director. Al Doseri, who assumed her role in November 2025, succeeds Abdulla Isa Al Manai and brings extensive diplomatic experience from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of Bahrain in Washington, D.C.
The chairman reviewed the Centre’s efforts and the various educational and awareness programmes implemented in collaboration with local and international institutions. Key initiatives include the Postgraduate Diploma in Coexistence, the King Hamad Leadership in Coexistence Programme, and the King Hamad Award for Coexistence and Tolerance, along with other academic and developmental initiatives like the Green Houses of Worship Initiative.
Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed emphasized that coexistence is an institutional practice necessitating clear policies, effective programmes, and strategic partnerships. He highlighted that the Centre’s upcoming strategic direction will focus on deepening impact and diversifying initiatives to include education, media, science and technology, and the environment.
