Manama: Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, received Shanika Dissanayake, Ambassador of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Bahrain, on the occasion of her appointment. Al Musallam commended the bilateral relations between Bahrain and Sri Lanka and their continued cooperation across political, economic, and cultural areas. He highlighted the continued development of relations in support of the two countries' mutual interests.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Speaker emphasised the importance of parliamentary efforts in supporting and advancing bilateral relations by enhancing communication between the Council of Representatives and the Parliament of Sri Lanka. This includes exchanging visits and expertise and activating the role of bilateral parliamentary committees to enhance mutual understanding and expand cooperation between the two countries.
For her part, Ambassador Dissanayake expressed her country's appreciation for its growing relations with Bahrain and affirmed its commitment to advancing bilateral and parliamentary cooperation across various areas. She also commended the role of the Council of Representatives in supporting relations and enhancing ties between the two countries.
