Bapco Refining Makes Strides in Licensing Engineers, Says CRPEP

Manama: Dr. Abdullah Talib, Chairman of the Council for Regulating the Practice of Engineering Professions, convened a meeting with members of Bapco Refinery to assess the progress in licensing engineers at Bapco Refining.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Talib acknowledged Bapco Refining's efforts, which demonstrate the company's dedication to adhering to engineering profession regulations and applying the highest quality and safety standards in the sector. The company has advanced significantly in licensing its engineers, facilitated by a new resolution that recognizes previous engineering experience, allowing licenses to be classified based on experience gained within the Kingdom.

Hassan Al Sheikh, Executive Director of the Council, stressed that the Council supports companies in complying with licensing requirements, thereby enhancing their efficiency. He highlighted that licensing is not merely a legal obligation but a critical component for ensuring safety and quality in engineering projects.

He further explained that the new resolution provides an opportunity for engineers to have their prior experience recognized, which helps to elevate their license categories in alignment with their actual engineering experience. This compliance not only regulates the engineering labor market but also prevents violations in the Labor Market Regulatory Authority system, ensuring that engineers practice legally and appropriately.

He also noted that the resolution allows institutions and companies to ensure compliance, improve efficiency, bolster confidence in engineering work quality, and mitigate risks. For instance, insurance companies do not cover damages caused by unlicensed engineers, emphasizing the necessity for companies to license their personnel.
