Manama: In the presence of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Excellency Nikos Christodoulides, President of the Republic of Cyprus, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Cyprus. This agreement was part of President Christodoulides's official visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the MoU was signed by Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain, and Dr. Constantinos Kombos, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus. Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, President of BACA, highlighted the significance of enhancing cultural, intellectual, and artistic collaboration between the two nations. He stressed that shared cultural relations are pivotal in strengthening ties and fostering cultural dialogue, which in turn supports initiatives that promote culture and the arts as tools for enhancing mutual understanding.
Shaikh Khalifa emphasized that reinforcing Bahrain's regional and international position starts with investing in the country's cultural and historical heritage. This investment includes efforts to revive the historical and cultural identity of Bahraini cities, thereby enhancing the kingdom's reputation globally. The BACA President also pointed out the strategic importance of the MoU, which focuses on culture, antiquities, and handicrafts. The memorandum aims to facilitate the exchange of documents, information, data, and publications across various cultural fields such as science, arts, literature, and education. This initiative is expected to enrich knowledge, support cultural activity, and bolster Bahrain's status as a cultural hub.
