Manama:Ameeri Industries has announced the launch of Amform, Bahrain's first power transformer manufacturing facility, at the upcoming Gateway Gulf 2026. This event, hosted by the Bahrain Economic Development Board (EDB), will be held at the Four Seasons Bahrain Bay from November 1st to 2nd, 2026. The announcement signals a significant step in the company's growth within the manufacturing industry.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the new facility will be constructed on a 23,000 square meter plot in Hidd. It will focus on producing medium-voltage power distribution transformers to cater to the local market, aiming to decrease reliance on imports and later expand sales across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
Adel Ameeri, CEO of Ameeri Industries, emphasized that the launch of Amform is a pivotal milestone for both the company and Bahrain's manufacturing sector. He stated that producing power transformers locally for the first time will help meet domestic market needs and build capacity for export to the wider GCC. This investment underscores the company's growth ambitions and commitment to advancing Bahrain's manufacturing capabilities.
Ishaq Abdulla Ishaq, Executive Director of Manufacturing, Transport, and Logistics of Bahrain EDB, highlighted that Ameeri Industries' expansion showcases how businesses can leverage their presence in Bahrain to develop new capabilities and drive regional growth. He noted that with the potential to serve GCC markets, this initiative supports Bahrain's manufacturing sector and aligns with the Kingdom's economic diversification goals.
Ameeri Industries, with a business heritage dating back to 1952, has expanded its manufacturing capabilities across various sectors, including electrical solutions and road-safety products. The company operates under several brands, including AMETECH, AMELITE, and AMGARD, and is involved in manufacturing electrical switchgear, cable management systems, street-lighting poles, and road guard rails. The company continues to invest in expanding its local production facilities, as evidenced by its factory expansion announcement in 2025.
Gateway Gulf 2026 is a testament to Bahrain's ongoing efforts to highlight investment opportunities and support businesses in developing new capabilities, strengthening local industries, and pursuing regional market opportunities. The forum aims to bring together international investors, business leaders, and policymakers to explore investment prospects and foster cross-border partnerships.
