Manama:The Social Insurance Organisation (SIO) has introduced an automated system for delivering financial support to families of deceased insured individuals. This new system allows eligible beneficiaries to receive their entitlements without the need for document submission or manual application processes.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the service upgrade is part of the "In Their Memory" package, which aims to reduce the burden on bereaved families by simplifying procedures and expediting access to insurance benefits following the death of an employee or pensioner. Through electronic integration with relevant government entities, the service is now processed automatically, replacing a process that previously required eight working days.
The enhancements to the service include a 50% reduction in documentation requirements and at least a 25% decrease in service-level agreement timeframes. The application process has been streamlined to four steps, and the service is now fully digital, requiring 25% fewer approvals and 50% fewer pages. Application forms have been digitized, with service information standardized across all channels to improve user experience.
Sahar Rashid Al Mannai, SIO Chief Executive Officer, emphasized that the upgrade reflects the organization's commitment to supporting bereaved families by facilitating access to their insurance entitlements and related transactions. She noted that the service is part of a broader package of digital services aimed at improving coordination between relevant entities and streamlining procedures after a death. The SIO plans to continue expanding electronic integration and automation to reduce requirements, speed up transactions, and enhance service delivery, while considering beneficiaries' circumstances.
As part of a larger government initiative to improve and redesign public services, over 1,300 government services have been documented, translated, and published, with 800 services enhanced across various sectors. Feedback from the National Suggestions and Complaints System (Tawasul), investors, and mystery shopper assessments have informed these improvements. The program also includes service guides and service-level agreements to simplify procedures, enhance service quality, and support government digital transformation.
