Manama:The Royal Humanitarian Foundation (RHF) is set to host its third charity marathon, themed "Steps That Change Lives," in conjunction with World Diabetes Day. The event will be held under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, who serves as the Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of RHF.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the marathon is scheduled for Saturday, November 14, at Water Garden City, from 8 am to 12 noon. It aims to raise funds to provide insulin pumps for children with Type 1 diabetes, thereby aiding in the regulation of their blood sugar levels and enhancing their quality of life.
The Foundation is encouraging public participation across all age groups, emphasizing the role of sports in supporting humanitarian causes while fostering solidarity, social cohesion, and social responsibility. The marathon will include races tailored to various age groups and abilities, featuring five children's races for ages 4 to 14, a 500-metre race for People of Determination, and a main three-kilometre race for adults.
Additionally, the event will feature a community activity with an exhibition showcasing Bahraini small businesses, organized in coordination with the Ministry of Youth Affairs. This initiative aims to highlight the creativity of Bahraini entrepreneurs and support their involvement in community events.
The marathon is being organized in collaboration with the Bahrain Road Runners Club, Water Garden City, and the Ministry of Youth Affairs.
