Second Deputy Speaker Chairs Key Financial Meeting for Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union

Manama: MP Ahmed Abdulwahid Qarata, Second Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives and a member of the Executive Committee of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU), recently chaired a remote meeting of the Interim Financial Committee assigned by the AIPU. The meeting focused on enhancing joint Arab action in political and economic domains and promoting regional and international security and stability.

According to Bahrain News Agency, MP Qarata emphasized Bahrain's significant role in fostering cooperation among Arab nations, driven by the royal directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and supported by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He mentioned the importance placed by Bahrain's Parliamentary Division, under the leadership of Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, on optimizing human and financial resources within parliamentary unions to ensure sustainable performance benefiting Arab countries and their people.

Key topics discussed during the meeting included proposals from the Shura Councils of Qatar and Oman, focusing on financial audit guidelines, internal audit systems, and criteria for appointing auditors. The discussions also covered the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union's draft budget for 2027, along with a proposal to detail the budget items, as prepared by the Union's General Secretariat.

The meeting served as a preparatory step for the upcoming 43rd session of the Executive Committee of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, scheduled to take place in Cairo, Egypt, next month.
