Ministry of Municipalities Affairs Launches Fast-Track Payment Service for Municipal Transactions

Manama:The Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, in partnership with the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA), has introduced a fast-track payment service designed to expedite municipal transactions. This new service allows users to quickly and easily settle outstanding payments recorded in municipal systems.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the updated service significantly reduces processing time from one working day to an automated process and cuts the service-level agreement by 25%. It streamlines the application process into four steps and supports 100% electronic processing. Additionally, it enhances the user interface and experience, simplifies procedures, introduces fast-track options and multiple channels, converts application forms into electronic formats, and standardizes service information across all channels.

Shaikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, the Municipalities Affairs Undersecretary at the Ministry, stated that the upgraded service allows beneficiaries to settle outstanding payments through a dedicated link, providing direct access to the payment process without the need to complete the usual procedures and steps. Users are notified of outstanding amounts via email or SMS by their municipality and can pay through the fast-track service on the ministry's website, which is integrated with the iGA's payment system.

This development is part of the ministry's ongoing efforts to enhance e-services, simplify procedures, improve the user experience, and provide integrated digital services that align with digital transformation goals and increase beneficiary satisfaction. As part of the broader government initiative to enhance public services, over 1,300 government services have been documented, translated, and published, with 800 undergoing development and re-engineering across various sectors. These efforts utilize feedback from the National Suggestions and Complaints System, investor comments, and mystery shopper reports, aiming to improve procedural efficiency, service quality, and the beneficiary experience while supporting government digital transformation.
