Manama: MP Ahmed Abdulwahid Qarata, Second Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives and member of the Executive Committee of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU), chaired the remote meeting of the Interim Financial Committee, assigned by the AIPU. MP Qarata affirmed Bahrain's pivotal role in supporting and strengthening joint Arab action, particularly in the political and economic fields, and in promoting regional and international security and stability, based on the royal approach of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and with the support and follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
According to Bahrain News Agency, MP Qarata noted that Bahrain's Parliamentary Division, chaired by Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Parliamentary Division, places great importance on developing the investment of human and financial resources in parliamentary unions and organisations. The division is committed to harnessing all efforts to ensure more sustainable and effective performance in serving the interests of Arab countries and peoples.
The meeting discussed proposals and views submitted by the Shura Council of the State of Qatar and the Shura Council of the Sultanate of Oman concerning financial guidelines. These included guidelines for financial audit and control procedures, the terms and criteria for appointing an internal auditor, the internal financial audit system, and the terms and criteria for appointing a chartered accountant (external auditor).
The agenda also included a discussion on the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union's draft 2027 annual budget, prepared by the Union's General Secretariat. Additionally, the Interim Financial Committee's proposal to detail the items of the 2027 annual budget was reviewed.
This meeting is part of preparations for the 43rd session of the Executive Committee of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, which is scheduled to be held in Cairo, the capital of the Arab Republic of Egypt, next month.
