Manama: The National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA) has enhanced its medical devices and supplies registration service as part of ongoing government efforts to improve and streamline public services.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the upgraded service allows applicants to register medical devices and supplies electronically and obtain registration certificates upon fulfilling the requirements. The number of required documents has been cut from 19 to eight, while processing times have been significantly reduced.
The standard service now takes 10 working days instead of 20, while the express service has been shortened from 10 days to five. The accreditation route has also been reduced from 20 working days to three, with required documents cut from 19 to three. Registration validity has been extended from one year to three years.
Other improvements include reducing the number of required approvals by 25%, enhancing digital systems and the user interface, simplifying procedures, and standardising service information across all channels.
Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Al Ansari, Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA), said the improvements reflect the authority's commitment to re-engineering procedures and adopting digital solutions to provide faster, easier and more flexible services, while maintaining the regulatory standards needed to ensure the quality and safety of medical devices and supplies in Bahrain.
The development forms part of wider government efforts to improve public services. More than 1,300 government services have been documented, translated and published, with 800 subsequently developed or re-engineered across various sectors based on feedback from the national Tawasul system, investors and mystery shopper assessments.
