Mumtalakat Invests in Bahraini AI Firm DOO to Boost Regional Expansion

Manama:Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company (Mumtalakat), the sovereign wealth fund of Bahrain, has announced a strategic investment in DOO, a Bahraini company specializing in AI-powered customer experience solutions. This announcement was made during the Gateway Gulf 2026 event.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the completion of the transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and necessary regulatory approvals. The investment in DOO follows the company's recent recognition as a winner of the third edition of the Startup of the Year competition, which was sponsored by Mumtalakat.

The investment aims to support DOO's expansion across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) by scaling its Arabic-first AI platform, enhancing research and development, and fostering Bahraini talent in AI. This move aligns with Mumtalakat's strategy to enhance its portfolio by investing in businesses that offer sustainable long-term returns and contribute to the local economy.

DOO, founded in 2024, specializes in developing AI agents capable of understanding natural Arabic dialects and automating customer interactions through voice, text, and messaging channels. The company's platform caters to clients in various sectors, including banking, insurance, healthcare, and telecommunications across the GCC.
