Muharraq Nights Festival Showcases Rich Cultural and Interactive Experiences

Muharraq: The fourth edition of the Muharraq Nights Festival offers an engaging programme of cultural and interactive tours that acquaint visitors with the city’s landmarks, architectural identity, and historical elements, while showcasing Muharraq’s heritage. The tours provide a curated selection of experiences organized along an integrated cultural route, blending local heritage with contemporary arts, culture, and knowledge, allowing audiences to gain insight into the city’s urban and cultural evolution.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the programme begins with art-focused tours exploring Muharraq’s history through sketching, led by architects Judy Abi Rustom and Dina Abdullah. Participants traverse multiple stations across three routes to observe and document the city’s architectural and cultural features. Additionally, the programme includes the photography tour “Grain and Glow: Analogue Photography in Muharraq Nights” with artist Dania Radhi, starting at Qal’at Bu Mahir and concluding at Siyadi complex, capturing Muharraq’s nocturnal scenes on film.

The “Nikon Shutter Tales” tour, led by experts, guides participants in camera skills and image composition, and introduces Nikon’s photography competition. Dr. Hesham Al Ammal presents two more photography tours: one focused on light changes across Muharraq’s neighborhoods and another exploring the city’s historical connection with the sea.

Guided tours of the Pearling Path, a UNESCO World Heritage site, highlight the pearling era in the Kingdom. Additional tours include “100 Years Since the Tab’aa: Storm Tales” and “Maritime Tales: Between Fact and Mythology”, offering historical and narrative experiences. The “Under the Spotlight” tour highlights the city’s commercial heritage through visits to historic shops.

Visitors seeking active experiences can join cultural scooter tours with Escooter Bahrain, cycling tours with Kashta Tours, and photography tours like “Stories from Muharraq” with Manar Ebrahim. Other activities include “Paint and Coffee in Muharraq” and “A Path of Tales” with Mariam Faqihi, exploring the Pearling Path’s transformations.

The Bahrain Students Architecture Association contributes with tours offering architectural and social insights into Muharraq’s neighborhoods. Al Riwaq Art Space organizes tours linked to the “In the Lapse of the Tides” exhibitions, alongside literature, jewellery, and design tours at the Pearl Museum – Siyadi Majlis.
