Foreign Minister praises HM King’s support to youth empowerment

Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani paid tribute to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, hailing their support to youth empowerment to contribute to development and diplomatic achievements.

Dr. Al Zayani was speaking as he addressed a panel discussion which was hosted by the Bahrain Institute of Political Development (BIPD) in cooperation with the Foreign Ministry under the theme “Future Challenge”. The event was attended by BIPD board members, senior officials, ministry’s and personnel from the ministry and the Mohammed bin Mubarak Academy of Diplomatic Studies, and graduates of national and foreign universities.

Dr. Al Zayani highlighted the goals of Bahrain’s foreign policy aimed to promote the culture of peace through building effective and balanced international relations based on mutual respect, the principles of good neighbourliness, non-interference in internal affairs.

He highlighted the fundamentals of Bahrain’s foreign policy which the settlement of regional and international conflicts through dialogue, negotiations and diplomacy, in addition to cooperation to combat extremism and terrorism, nurture and protect human rights and spearhead sustainable development in accordance with the Government Action Plan and the National Human Rights Plan (2022-2026).

He reiterated Bahrain’s commitment to supporting GCC countries’ security and stability towards building integrated economic unity through following up on successful development projects, citing electrical grid linkage, railways schemes, the customs union and the common GCC market. The minister affirmed Bahrain’s role in advocating to Arab and Islamic issues, reiterating support to the Palestinians’ inalienable rights to establish an independent Palestinian state on the June 1967 boders with East Jerusalem as its capital, on the basis of the two-state formula, the international law, the Arab Peace Initiative and the UN resolutions.

The minister saluted Bahrainis on the World Youth Day, held this year under the theme ” “Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World”.

He valued the dedicated efforts of the Team Bahrain in supporting development and diplomatic goals to serve the Kingdom’s vital interests and overcome the pandemic repercussions, protect the environment, mitigate climate changes, support Bahrain’s mission that promotes dialogue between religions, cultures and civilisations.

Dr. Al Zayani highlighted the launch of the King Hamad Youth Empowerment Award for the achievement of sustainable development goals in cooperation with the UN Development Goals, citing other pioneering achievements aimed to support regional and international peace and prosperity.
