Manama: Yasser bin Ibrahim Humaidan, the Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs, chaired the meeting of the GCC Ministerial Committee for Electricity and Water Cooperation. The meeting saw the participation of ministers responsible for the electricity and water sectors from the GCC member states, alongside Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
According to Bahrain News Agency, Humaidan emphasized the significance of continued Gulf coordination to advance cooperation in the electricity and water sectors. He noted that closer collaboration is essential for supporting sustainable development and strengthening regional water security. Humaidan also commended the efforts of the GCC General Secretariat in implementing the directives of GCC leaders and supporting initiatives aimed at promoting greater integration among the member states.
The committee meeting reviewed a variety of agenda items, focusing on joint GCC electricity and water projects. These projects are designed to improve resource efficiency, enhance infrastructure resilience, and reinforce the region's capacity to respond to evolving challenges.
