Manama: Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, the Deputy Prime Minister of Bahrain, inaugurated the 220kV and 66kV electricity transmission substations that will serve the Al Ramli District. This initiative marks a significant step in enhancing the nation's infrastructure, particularly in essential services such as electricity and water.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah emphasized Bahrain's ongoing dedication to infrastructure development, aligning with the comprehensive development goals set by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. The focus remains on enhancing efficiency and sustainability within the country's electricity and water sectors.
Yasser bin Ibrahim Humaidan, the Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs, provided an overview of the project, which has been realized with an investment of BHD 19 million. The infrastructure includes two electricity transmission substations equipped with state-of-the-art transformers and control systems. These are interconnected with the national grid through high-voltage cables to optimize load distribution, network efficiency, and reliability.
The Deputy Prime Minister acknowledged the contribution of the Saudi Fund for Development, which financed the project as part of the Gulf Development Programme. He highlighted the fund's essential role in advancing strategic development initiatives within Bahrain.
Bandar bin Abdullah Al Obaid, Director General of Arab Countries Operations at the Saudi Fund for Development, remarked on the enduring partnership and development cooperation between the fund and Bahrain, which spans over 49 years. He underscored the project's significance in bolstering growth and improving access to essential services for the people of Bahrain.
