Manama: Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi, Minister of Youth Affairs, participated in the closing ceremony of the 11th Youth Leadership Programme (YLP), organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
According to Bahrain News Agency, the minister emphasized Bahrain's ongoing commitment to youth empowerment and leadership development. This commitment is supported by national initiatives designed to enhance young people's engagement in sustainable development while equipping them with the necessary skills for innovation and positive change.
The minister also underscored the programme's significant role in preparing a new generation of leaders and commended the longstanding partnership between the Ministry of Youth Affairs and UNDP. This collaboration has been instrumental in delivering initiatives that bolster the capabilities of Bahraini youth.
Asmaa Shalabi, UNDP Resident Representative in Bahrain, highlighted the programme's success as a platform for involving young people in sustainable development and social innovation. She shared that 27 participants were selected from over 100 applicants to engage in the recent six-week training programme.
The ceremony featured projects created by participants under the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Challenge and concluded with the acknowledgment of partners and supporters, along with the awarding of graduation certificates.
