Baku:Arab Financial Services (AFS), a prominent digital payments solutions provider in the Middle East and Africa, has unveiled AFS PRO Tap to Pay on iPhone in Bahrain. This innovative solution allows merchants to accept contactless payments directly on their iPhones without the need for additional hardware.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the announcement was made during the fourth edition of Gateway Gulf, which took place on November 1-2 at the Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay. The event, organized by the Bahrain Economic Development Board, focused on the theme "Reimagining Global Partnerships, Powering Sustainable Growth."
The AFS PRO Tap to Pay solution is particularly beneficial for merchants who are constantly on the move, such as independent retailers, entrepreneurs, and service providers. It eliminates the need for a dedicated payment terminal by transforming the merchant's iPhone into a functional payment acceptance tool. Customers can complete transactions by simply tapping their card, phone, or wearable device on the merchant's iPhone.
This technology offers businesses greater flexibility at checkout, providing a simple and convenient payment option without necessitating changes to their existing setup. AFS's Group CEO, Dr. Samer Soliman, emphasized that the solution exemplifies the company's commitment to developing technologies that align with merchants' business needs.
Following its launch in Bahrain, AFS plans to introduce the AFS PRO Tap to Pay solution in the UAE in early November 2026, in collaboration with Mawarid Finance and Mastercard. This initiative is part of AFS's ongoing efforts to expand access to digital payment solutions throughout the region.
