Manama: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia strongly condemned the targeting of two ADNOC tankers while transiting the Strait of Hormuz, describing the incident as another unacceptable Iranian attack on commercial vessels and tankers.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the repeated attacks constitute a dangerous escalation and a direct threat to maritime navigation and global energy security. It said they also represent a serious violation of international law and a blatant challenge to United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817, which calls for respecting the rights and freedom of navigation of commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz and condemns actions or threats that obstruct them.
Saudi Arabia held Iran fully responsible for the consequences of the continued attacks and called for their immediate cessation and compliance with relevant international law. The Kingdom stressed that regional security and maritime safety are a shared responsibility and that such attacks cannot be tolerated.
Saudi Arabia reiterated its full solidarity with the United Arab Emirates and its support for measures taken to safeguard its sovereignty, security and resources.
