Manama: In a significant boost to Bahrain’s horseracing scene, Al Zayani Investments Group has committed to sponsoring the 2024-2025 season at the Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC). This partnership marks a notable collaboration aimed at enhancing the sport’s profile both locally and internationally.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the sponsorship agreement was formalized by Zayed Rashid Alzayani, Chairman of Al Zayani Investments Group, and Yusuf Osama Buheji, CEO of REHC. Alzayani expressed the Group’s pride in supporting the horseracing season and emphasized their commitment to contributing to the sport’s growth, which is thriving under the leadership of His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Chairman of the REHC. He noted that this sponsorship is poised to augment the success of the racing program and further elevate Bahrain’s status as a top global horseracing destination.

Buheji welcomed the new partnership, stating that the support from Al Zayani Investments Group will
significantly reinforce the club’s efforts to develop horseracing on both a local and international scale. He detailed plans for the club’s continued advancement, which includes hosting major races and events, expanding its network of partners and sponsors, and upgrading the racecourse infrastructure to align with the highest international standards in the horseracing industry.

Bahrain Basketball Association to Host Local and International 3×3 Championships

Manama: The Bahrain Basketball Association will host the 3×3 World Tour for the second consecutive year on November 1-2, alongside a local 3×3 championship, aiming to build on last year’s success.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Hassan Yaseen, Chairman of the Competition and Organisation Committee of the Bahrain Basketball Association, stated that under the leadership of Alaa Mudara, chairman of the association, the committee is committed to replicating the success of the previous events. Yaseen remarked on the enthusiasm among the basketball clubs, all of which have confirmed their participation. Some clubs will be entering one team, while others will submit two, indicating a high level of engagement and competition within the community.

Yaseen explained that the local championship will feature 20 teams divided into five groups of four teams each. Each team is scheduled to play three matches during the group stage, which will take place on October 30-31, starting at 4:30 PM on both the main and warm-up c
ourts at the Bahrain Financial Harbour. The top teams from the group stage will advance to the second round, leading up to the semi-finals, and the final match will align with the closing of the world tour. Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams in the championship, fostering a competitive spirit among the participants.

Abdullah Jamal Clinches Bronze at Asian Kickboxing Championship

Phnom Penh: Abdullah Jamal Isa, representing Bahrain, secured a bronze medal in the 57kg low kick category at the Asian Kickboxing Championship in Cambodia.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Ahmed Khalid Al Wazzan, President of the Bahrain Kickboxing and Muay Thai Federation, expressed that Abdullah Jamal’s achievement underscores the support from His Highness Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Vice President of the General Sports Authority and President of the Bahrain Combat Sports Council. Al Wazzan highlighted the federation’s success in garnering international accolades due to this backing.

Al Wazzan also praised Abdullah Jamal’s performance and the effort of the national team’s coaching and administrative staff, which played a crucial role in preparing the athlete for the competition.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Khalid triumphed after showcasing superior skills and consistency across all three rounds of the championship. He won a gold and a silver medal in the Swedish round, a gold medal in Germany, and a bronze medal in the final round in Portugal, ensuring his lead in the overall standings.

The victory marks a significant milestone in Khalid’s career, reflecting his dedication and the strong support from his team and sponsors. The Emirates News Agency reported Khalid’s reaction, where he expressed immense gratitude towards the UAE’s leadership and thanked the Sharjah Sports Council along with the board of directors at Al Hamriyah Club for their continuous support.
