Manama: Ibrahim bin Hassan Al Hawaj, Minister of Works, received Professor Ibrahim Khadra, Vice President of the University of Strathclyde Bahrain, to explore collaborative opportunities in scientific research aimed at bolstering infrastructure development and fostering integration between governmental and academic sectors.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the minister underscored the ministry’s dedication to expanding partnerships with academic institutions. This collaboration seeks to harness research expertise to enhance current and future projects in alignment with sustainable development goals and improve service quality for both citizens and residents.
The discussions addressed the pivotal role of research in overcoming challenges related to infrastructure projects and development. Emphasis was placed on using research to support planning and data-driven decision-making. Additionally, the meeting explored mechanisms to enable students to gain practical training through participation in on-site projects, such as roads, sewage, and buildings, thereby enhancing their skills and preparing a qualified national workforce to meet market demands.
Professor Khadra highlighted the significance of this partnership, expressing the university’s readiness to deploy its research and academic capabilities in support of the ministry’s initiatives. The collaboration aims to contribute to scientific studies that align with national priorities in the infrastructure sector.
