Manama: The University of Bahrain has launched a new digital service that enables students to cancel academic transfer requests and remain in their current academic programmes through the Student Information System (SIS).
According to Bahrain News Agency, the service allows students to cancel transfer requests after decisions have been issued, including transfers between colleges, between programmes within the same college, and from associate diploma or associate degree programmes to bachelor's degree programmes. Under the enhanced service, processing time has been reduced from two working days to an immediate automated procedure through the SIS following verification via a one-time password (OTP). Required documents have been reduced by 50%, while the service has achieved full electronic transformation, alongside improvements to the user interface, user experience, and the unification of service information across all channels.
Dr. Fuad Mohammed Al Ansari, President of the University of Bahrain, stated that the service reflects the university's adoption of innovative digital solutions aimed at improving operational efficiency. He noted that transaction processing time has been reduced from two working days to immediate processing, enhancing student experience and supporting comprehensive digital transformation. Dr. Al Ansari added that the development of digital services reflects the university's commitment to leveraging technology to provide fully automated self-service solutions that reduce time and effort for beneficiaries and enhance operational effectiveness.
The initiative forms part of ongoing government efforts to develop and re-engineer public services. More than 1,300 government services have been documented, translated and published, with 800 services enhanced across government sectors based on feedback received from the "Tawasul" system, investor input and service evaluation reports.
