Manama:Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, has condemned the attack on the Qatari liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier Al Mayeda while it was sailing through the Arabian Gulf. He warned that such actions threaten the security of vital shipping routes and regional stability.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Musallam expressed Bahrain's complete solidarity with Qatar and support for measures taken to safeguard the country's security and interests. He emphasized the enduring ties between the two Kingdoms in his statement.
The Speaker highlighted the necessity of protecting commercial vessels and energy carriers, ensuring the safety of their crews, and upholding international maritime law. He called on the international community to protect vital waterways and prevent threats to navigation.
Al Musallam further underscored the importance of enhancing parliamentary cooperation between Bahrain's Council of Representatives and Qatar's Shura Council, chaired by Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim, to promote shared Gulf positions and support regional security and stability.
