Manama: Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain's policy, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, is firmly based on the belief that peace is a strategic and civilisational choice, and that stability and prosperity can only be achieved in a world governed by mutual respect, the rule of law and good neighbourliness.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Musallam noted that His Majesty's vision has established the Kingdom as a global model for tolerance, coexistence, and respect for others. Since the launch of His Majesty the King's reform project, Bahrain has worked to consolidate the foundations of peace regionally and internationally, making dialogue and moderation a consistent approach in its foreign policy, based on the belief that regional and global security are interconnected.
He added that Bahrain has demonstrated this commitment through global initiatives launched in the field of peace, foremost among them the Bahrain Dialogue Forum: Dialogue Among Civilisations, which brought together religious leaders and thinkers from various countries around the world, and the King Hamad Global Centre for Coexistence and Tolerance (KHGC), which has become a centre for promoting the values of tolerance and combating extremism.
Al Musallam further stated that Bahrain also continues to support all international efforts aimed at achieving international security and peace, and to extend assistance to friendly countries in addressing common challenges.
The Speaker commended the directives and support extended to the global peace agenda by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and efforts to strengthen Bahrain's role in international forums, including during Bahrain's membership of the United Nations Security Council, as well as through all regional and international organisations.
He explained that Bahrain's vision for peace is rooted in national principles, Bahrain's authentic culture, and the values and principles of Islam, which is based on mercy towards all mankind. The Bahraini civilisational message is based on respect for people and their dignity, promoting a culture of peace among peoples, and rejecting hatred, violence, and extremism.
Al Musallam said that Bahrain has demonstrated throughout its history that it is a meeting place for civilisations and that diversity is a source of strength.
He affirmed the Council of Representatives' commitment to strengthening the role of parliamentary diplomacy in supporting peace by engaging with parliaments of friendly countries, activating parliamentary friendship committees, and participating actively in the Inter-Parliamentary Union and regional parliamentary unions. These efforts aim to convey Bahrain's call for peace and coordinate on legislation supporting human rights and protecting civilians.
He concluded that peace represents a secure future for all and for generations to come, as there can be no development without security, no investment without stability, and no hope for countries without a world characterised by peace, growth, and prosperity.
