Social Development Ministry Undersecretary Chairs GCC Social Affairs Meeting

Manama: Ziad Adel Darwish, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Development, chaired the remote extraordinary meeting of the Committee of Undersecretaries of Ministries of Social Affairs and Social Development in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting was attended by undersecretaries of ministries of social affairs and social development in the GCC countries, as well as representatives of the GCC General Secretariat and the Executive Bureau of the Council of Labour Ministers and the Council of Social Affairs Ministers of the GCC countries.

During the meeting, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Development emphasized the importance of joint Gulf coordination to enhance the rights of persons with disabilities and to facilitate their access to services and benefits available across the GCC countries. This reflects the commitment of GCC states to support their integration and active participation in society.

The meeting also discussed the benefits granted to persons with disabilities in the GCC countries. This was in light of a decision by the Committee of Ministers of Social Affairs and Social Development of the GCC countries regarding the use of national identification cards issued by official authorities to persons with disabilities while traveling between GCC countries, enabling them to benefit from public benefits available in those countries.
