Manama: The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) announced the implementation of 5,130 inspection campaigns and visits during June 2026. These efforts resulted in the detention of 79 violating and irregular workers and the deportation of 256 violators, aiming to maintain a balanced and competitive labour market.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the inspection campaigns and visits led to the identification of numerous violations related to the Labour Market Regulatory Authority and Residency Laws in Bahrain. Legal actions were taken against those found in violation of these regulations.
The LMRA reported that 4,978 inspection visits were conducted across various shops in all governorates. This included 152 joint inspection campaigns: 65 in the Capital Governorate, 37 in the Muharraq Governorate, 18 in the Northern Governorate, and 32 in the Southern Governorate.
Several government entities participated in these campaigns. These include the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA), the General Directorate of Crime Detection and Forensic Science, the Police Directorate of each governorate, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority, and the Social Insurance Organization.
The Authority emphasized the ongoing coordination with government agencies to intensify inspection campaigns across all governorates. This collaboration aims to address violations or practices that may impact the stability and competitiveness of the labour market or the economic and social security of the Kingdom.
The LMRA urged societal support for government efforts to combat illegal labour practices. Violations can be reported via the electronic form on the LMRA's website www.lmra.gov.bh, by calling their call centre at 17506055, or through the government's Suggestions and Complaints System (Tawasul).
