Land Transport Undersecretary Engages in OIC’s Annual Coordination Meeting

Manama: Fatima Abdullah Al Dhaen, Undersecretary for Land Transport and Post Affairs at the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications, took part in the 13th annual coordination meeting for contact points of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting is being conducted via video conference from June 9 to 10 with the participation of representatives from member states. Undersecretary Al Dhaen emphasized that Bahrain's involvement underscores its dedication to enhancing cooperation with member states and leveraging initiatives and programmes that facilitate sustainable economic development, alongside the exchange of expertise and best practices in areas of mutual interest.

The meeting focused on evaluating the implementation of the committee's strategy and its ministerial recommendations. It also reviewed topics set for consideration by working groups for the 2027-2029 period, alongside exploring mechanisms to bolster joint coordination. Discussions included projects and programmes that support economic and commercial cooperation between member states, while also assessing opportunities to capitalize on these programmes to support collective development initiatives.

A training session was part of the meeting agenda, focusing on mechanisms for leveraging project support programmes and understanding application requirements, aimed at contributing to the expansion of joint cooperation among member states.
