Manama:General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, the Minister of Interior, recently received Major General Edgar Lawandos, the Director General of State Security from the Lebanese Republic. The meeting took place during Major General Lawandos's visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain for the IISS Manama Dialogue 2026.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting was also attended by Lieutenant General Adel bin Khalifa Al Fadhel, Deputy Minister of Interior, and Lieutenant General Tariq Hassan Al Hassan, Chief of Police. The Interior Minister expressed his appreciation for the Lebanese official's participation in this important dialogue, which is a significant platform for discussions on political, security, and strategic issues among Middle Eastern countries and their international partners.
During the meeting, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah highlighted the current regional circumstances, particularly the repercussions of Iranian aggression against Bahrain and other countries in the region. He emphasized that these challenges necessitate increased cooperation and coordination to strengthen collective security and enhance cooperation mechanisms, underscoring a unity of purpose and shared destiny.
The discussions also covered areas of security cooperation between Bahrain and Lebanon, focusing on security matters aimed at enhancing regional stability.
