Manama:Ibrahim bin Hassan Al Hawaj, Minister of Works, has underscored the Kingdom of Bahrain's commitment to environmental sustainability and resource preservation, which are integral to the nation's comprehensive development strategy under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the minister highlighted the significant backing from His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for afforestation initiatives and the advancement of innovative irrigation solutions. HRH's dedication to fostering creativity and adopting resource-efficient ideas aims to expand green spaces across the nation.
The minister pointed out that the Crown Prince and Prime Minister's engagement with winners of the Innovation in Irrigation Solutions Competition underscores HRH's dedication to nurturing a culture of innovation within government operations. This support not only encourages national talent but also facilitates the transformation of innovative concepts into practical projects that contribute to sustainable development.
The Ministry of Works, as noted by the minister, is actively advancing irrigation systems by embracing modern technologies and smart solutions. This aligns with the Kingdom’s Afforestation Plan and the Bahrain Mangroves Initiative, both of which aim to bolster green space expansion and environmental sustainability.
The minister commended the innovative projects recognized in the competition, such as the Smart Water Transport project, which enhances the irrigation network through IoT and AI technologies, and the Smart Irrigation Leak Detection System that optimizes water usage. These initiatives demonstrate the national talent's ability to devise practical solutions for improving irrigation efficiency and resource utilization.
He also emphasized the Ministry of Works' ongoing commitment to integrating innovation and modern technology into infrastructure and service development, while promoting cooperation with relevant entities to implement projects according to best practices and technical standards.
