Manama: His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today met with the Honourable Anita Anand, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada. The meeting occurred during the Honourable Anita Anand's visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain for the Third GCC-Canada Joint Ministerial Meeting for Strategic Dialogue.
According to Bahrain News Agency, His Royal Highness highlighted the robust relationship between Bahrain and Canada, noting a shared commitment to enhancing cooperation across sectors to support the aspirations of both nations. He emphasized the importance of further deepening bilateral ties to create opportunities that benefit citizens from both countries.
During the meeting, Minister Anand conveyed greetings from the Right Honourable Mark Carney, Prime Minister of Canada, to His Royal Highness, alongside wishes for Bahrain's continued progress and prosperity. His Royal Highness reciprocated with greetings to the Canadian Prime Minister, expressing hopes for Canada's continued growth and development.
His Royal Highness expressed optimism for the success of the meetings, aiming for outcomes that would strengthen cooperation between the GCC and Canada. He underscored the significance of the Third GCC-Canada Joint Ministerial Meeting for Strategic Dialogue in enhancing collaboration and coordination across various fields, advancing shared objectives, and promoting regional security, stability, and development.
The meeting also explored opportunities for advancing cooperation between Canada and Bahrain, particularly in economic and commercial sectors. Regional and international developments, along with issues of mutual interest, were part of the discussions.
Minister Anand affirmed Canada's support for Bahrain and the GCC member states in confronting hostile Iranian actions, stressing the importance of reopening the Strait of Hormuz to ensure the freedom of maritime navigation. She expressed gratitude for His Royal Highness's commitment to strengthening bilateral relations across various fields and his support for cooperation between GCC member states and Canada, wishing the Kingdom continued progress.
His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Minister of the Prime Minister's Court, was also in attendance at the meeting.
