Manama: His Highness Lieutenant General Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, National Security Advisor, Royal Guard Commander, and Secretary General of the Supreme Defence Council, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the field of security between the General Secretariat of the Supreme Defence Council of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the National Security Council of the Republic of Cyprus. This event took place within the framework of the 21st Regional Security Summit, 'Manama Dialogue 2025'.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Cypriot delegation was represented at the signing by Tassos Tsezonis, National Security Advisor and Director of the Intelligence Service of Cyprus. The ceremony was attended by Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa, Deputy National Security Advisor and Deputy Secretary General of the Supreme Defence Council, and Shaikh Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Strategic Security Bureau.
His Highness stated that the signing of the MoU reflects Bahrain's aim to broaden its international partnerships in the security sector. He mentioned that the agreement is a strategic move to bolster security cooperation with Cyprus, enhance security networks, and support joint efforts to tackle regional and global challenges, thereby ensuring security and stability for both countries and the region.
His Highness also noted that the robust relationship between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of Cyprus has experienced consistent growth across multiple areas. He highlighted that this partnership denotes mutual trust and a shared dedication to fostering effective cooperation amid global changes, particularly in security and economic fields.
The MoU outlines cooperation in the exchange of security information and expertise, conducting training, and ensuring continuous coordination between the two parties. It also aims to support bilateral efforts to fortify regional and international security and stability, alongside organizing joint meetings to address future common security challenges, which will enhance the efficiency of security operations and strengthen strategic frameworks in both countries.
His Highness and Tassos Tsezonis also explored topics of mutual interest and assessed the ongoing cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of Cyprus.
