HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Honours Champions at Nasser Bin Hamad Secondary Schools Football Championship


Manama: HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa honoured the champions of the Nasser bin Hamad Secondary Schools Football Championship following an exciting final match held under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa. The championship was organized by the Ministry of Education for the 2025-2026 academic year.



According to Bahrain News Agency, the final match witnessed Nasser Scientific and Technical Centre securing a victory over Al Hidaya Al Khalifiya Secondary School with a score of 3-0. The event saw the presence of numerous dignitaries including His Highness Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, and Dr. Abdulrahman Askar, along with several senior officials.



Following the conclusion of the match, HH Shaikh Khalid awarded the Nasser Centre for Science and Technology as the tournament champions. Al Hidaya Al Khalifiya Secondary School received recognition for their second-place finish, while the British School was honoured with third place. HH Shaikh Khalid commended the strong performance and competitive spirit exhibited by the teams, and expressed gratitude to HH Shaikh Nasser for his ongoing support of school sports.



His Highness emphasized the importance of school sports initiatives in talent identification and the development of students’ physical and mental capabilities. He also praised the Ministry of Education for effectively organizing the championship and underscored the necessity of collaboration between the education and sports sectors.



Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, the Minister of Education, expressed appreciation to HH Shaikh Khalid for attending the final and recognizing the winning teams. He reiterated the ministry’s dedication, in collaboration with the General Sports Authority, to broaden school sports programmes and foster greater student involvement, citing the significance of school competitions in cultivating future sports talent.



The championship included participation from 54 public and private schools, with 1,188 students competing across 78 matches, highlighting the widespread engagement and enthusiasm for school sports in the region.
