New delhi: Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), convened with ambassadors and representatives from GCC states’ embassies in New Delhi during his official visit to India. The meeting underscored the importance of Gulf-Indian relations and sought to fortify bilateral and collective cooperation in political, economic, investment, and cultural spheres.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Albudaiwi praised the ambassadors and representatives for their pivotal role in enhancing relations between the GCC states and India. He highlighted the strategic partnership between the two regions, rooted in mutual interests and expanding collaborations. Albudaiwi emphasized that the diplomatic missions in India are crucial in advancing these ties, which align with the aspirations of both the leaderships and the peoples of the GCC and India.
The Secretary-General also discussed key topics addressed with senior Indian officials, focusing on efforts to boost economic cooperation, notably following the initiation of negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement between the GCC and India. Albudaiwi affirmed the GCC General Secretariat’s dedication to supporting and coordinating with the diplomatic missions of the Council states. This commitment is aimed at advancing joint Gulf initiatives and aligning messages and positions to reflect the GCC’s robust framework and its influence regionally and internationally.
