GCC Ministers Meet to Discuss Social Development Initiatives

Manama:Osama bin Saleh Al Alawi, Minister of Social Development, chaired the 12th meeting of the Committee of Ministers of Social Affairs and Social Development of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). The meeting was hosted by Bahrain as part of its presidency of the 46th session of the GCC.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting was attended by GCC ministers, representatives of the GCC General Secretariat, and the Executive Bureau of the Council of Ministers of Labour and Council of Ministers of Social Affairs in GCC States.

Minister Al Alawi conveyed greetings and well-wishes from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for the meeting's success and the advancement of joint GCC initiatives.

In his address, Minister Al Alawi emphasized the importance of strengthening joint GCC social cooperation, advocating for enhanced coordination and integration to support social stability and cohesion. He highlighted the need for improved social policies and services to address the evolving needs and aspirations of communities.

The minister also underscored the significance of building on past achievements in GCC social cooperation, promoting the exchange of expertise, and utilizing modern developments and data to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of social services.

Moreover, Minister Al Alawi pointed out that the next phase requires the development of joint initiatives, stronger partnerships, and greater coordination among relevant entities to achieve shared objectives and reinforce the role of social development in enhancing quality of life and social stability.

During the meeting, participants discussed agenda items, reviewed cooperation in social affairs, and explored ways to advance cooperation for greater integration among member states to meet the aspirations of their citizens.
