Manama:Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, praised the success of the 22nd IISS Manama Dialogue, describing it as a global platform for dialogue, understanding, and partnership in support of regional and international peace, security, and prosperity. He attributed the forum's success to the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Al Zayani commended the Crown Prince and Prime Minister for inaugurating the forum, which gathered ministers, senior officials, experts, and representatives of regional and international organizations. He emphasized Bahrain's commitment to fostering dialogue among decision-makers and strengthening international partnerships to enhance security, stability, and sustainable development.
Dr. Al Zayani highlighted the Crown Prince's call for international cooperation to safeguard vital waterways and freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandab, stressing their importance to global energy and food supplies, trade, and economic stability.
The Minister noted that the forum coincided with Bahrain's membership of the UN Security Council for 2026-2027 and its rotating presidency of the Gulf Cooperation Council. This, he said, reflects international confidence in the Kingdom's diplomacy and its support for international peace and security.
He cited UN Security Council Resolution 2817 as a key expression of international solidarity with Bahrain and the region, reaffirming the need for its full implementation and an end to attacks that threaten civilians, critical infrastructure, and freedom of maritime and air navigation.
Dr. Al Zayani also praised the partnership with the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) and the efforts of national entities in organizing the forum over the past 22 years. He acknowledged its role in bridging perspectives, enriching strategic dialogue, and advancing shared approaches to regional and international challenges.
He concluded that the success of the 2026 Manama Dialogue reflects Bahrain's international standing and its role as a hub for dialogue and understanding, promoting tolerance, coexistence, and international cooperation based on respect for international law and shared responsibility.
