Manama: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, engaged in a significant meeting with Dr. Afrah Al Zouba, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs of the Republic of Yemen, during her official visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain. The meeting underscored the ongoing commitment to enhancing bilateral ties between the two nations.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Al Zayani extended congratulations to Dr. Al Zouba on her recent appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs of Yemen. He expressed support for her efforts in steering Yemeni diplomacy through critical times and reiterated Bahrain's backing of the Yemeni government in its quest for security, stability, and achieving developmental aspirations for its people.
Dr. Al Zouba acknowledged the historical bonds shared by Bahrain and Yemen, highlighting the growth and development of these ties. She emphasized the commitment of both countries to further cooperation that aligns with their mutual interests. She also conveyed gratitude for Bahrain's supportive stance on Yemen's endeavors for a peaceful resolution to ongoing conflicts and ensuring the safety of navigation in the Bab Al Mandab Strait.
The dialogue between the two ministers explored avenues for enhancing bilateral cooperation, focusing on economic, trade, and developmental sectors. Discussions also covered regional developments, particularly the impact of maritime navigation issues in the Strait of Hormuz and Bab Al Mandab Strait on international trade and the global economy.
The meeting further addressed political and security developments in Yemen. The ministers deliberated on efforts led by the United Nations to achieve a political solution for peace in Yemen, adhering to internationally recognized frameworks and ensuring humanitarian aid delivery.
Dr. Al Zouba's itinerary included a visit to the Al Madar Centre at the Ministry, where she was briefed on the Centre's role in monitoring regional and international events, preparing reports, and conducting political analysis to support Bahraini diplomatic objectives.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Ali Hassan Al Ahmadi, Ambassador of Yemen to Bahrain, and Ambassador Nawaf Abdullah Al Mutawa, Acting Chief of GCC Affairs.
