Foreign Minister Highlights Bahrain’s Commitment on World Humanitarian Day

Manama: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the International Human Rights Committee, affirmed Bahrain's commitment to humanitarian action and providing relief and development assistance to countries and peoples affected by disasters, conflicts, and crises, in line with the humanitarian approach of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs - Bahrain, marking World Humanitarian Day, the Foreign Minister highlighted Bahrain's support for international and regional efforts to safeguard human dignity, security, and well-being through multilateral cooperation, emphasizing the close link between peace, stability, sustainable development, and human rights.He commended the leading role of the Royal Humanitarian Foundation, established under the vision of His Majesty the King and supported by His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, in advancing humanitarian and charitable efforts locally and internationally over the past 25 years, including relief and development programmes in areas affected by conflicts and disasters.The Minister also highlighted Bahrain's pioneering humanitarian initiatives, including its call during its presidency of the Arab Summit to provide education and healthcare to people affected by conflicts, and its support for the comprehensive peace plan and the Board of Peace efforts in Gaza, in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 2803, to ensure humanitarian assistance, support recovery and reconstruction, and uphold the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.He called on the international community to strengthen cooperation and solidarity, protect civilians and humanitarian workers, and ensure safe and sustained access to humanitarian assistance. He stressed the need for a firm international response to Iran's attacks on civilian and vital infrastructure in Bahrain and the region, w hich threaten civilian lives, maritime navigation, energy security, food and medicine supplies, and global trade, in violation of international law and UN Security Council Resolution 2817.Concluding his statement, Dr. Al Zayani affirmed that Bahrain will continue, through its regional and international partnerships and non-permanent membership of the UN Security Council, to promote effective international responses to humanitarian challenges, peaceful conflict resolution, and solidarity and human fraternity, contributing to a safer, more connected, and prosperous world.
