Manama: His Excellency Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, chaired the weekly Cabinet meeting at Gudaibiya Palace. The session addressed a range of topics, from national security to international recognition of Bahrain's equestrian achievements.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Cabinet lauded the Royal Order by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to form the National Resilience Documentation Committee. This committee is responsible for documenting the hostile Iranian activities against Bahrain. The Cabinet stated that this initiative would help establish a documented national narrative that reflects the Kingdom's leadership and public unity in overcoming challenges.
In a significant development for the equestrian community, the Cabinet welcomed the Asian Racing Federation's decision to elevate the Bahrain International Trophy to an international Group 1 status. His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Minister of the Prime Minister's Court and Chairman of the High Committee of the Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club, was commended for his efforts in positioning Bahrain as a global hub for equestrian sports.
The Cabinet also took the opportunity to mark the International Day of Women in Diplomacy, highlighting the valuable contributions of Bahraini women in the diplomatic field. Additionally, on the occasion of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the Cabinet praised the Ministry of Interior and other security institutions for their initiatives aimed at public awareness and community protection against substance abuse.
Preparations for the upcoming Ashura were also discussed, with ministries and government entities outlining measures to ensure the event's success.
Several memorandums were reviewed and approved during the session, including agreements with the Republic of Seychelles on fisheries and aquaculture, a collaboration between the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture and the Gulf University, and a partnership between the National Institution for Human Rights and the Institute of Public Administration. The government also responded to proposals from the Council of Representatives.
The Cabinet reviewed updates on the Ministry of Works' priorities under the Government Programme for 2023-2026, as well as court performance statistics for the years 2024 and 2025.
Reports were presented on the recent outcomes of the 167th session of the GCC Ministerial Council, the Third Gulf-Canada Joint Ministerial Meeting for Strategic Dialogue, the 29th extraordinary meeting of the GCC Ministerial Council for Transport, and the High-Level Virtual Meeting on the Bundibugyo Ebola outbreak in Africa.
