Manama: Lieutenant General Theyab bin Saqr Al Nuaimi, Chief of Staff, chaired the Military Committee meeting of Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states. The meeting was attended by high-ranking military officials from the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, and Kuwait, as well as key figures from the GCC General Secretariat.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Chief of Staff opened the meeting by welcoming his counterparts, the Assistant Secretary General for Military Affairs, and the Commander of the Unified Military Command. He emphasized Bahrain's commitment to enhancing military cooperation among the GCC states. Greetings were extended from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and other senior Bahraini leaders, expressing their best wishes for the success of the meeting.
In his address, the Chief of Staff highlighted the challenges posed by Iranian aggression, which he stated had significantly impacted civilians and maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. He called for unity among GCC states to address these threats and emphasized the importance of a comprehensive framework for military cooperation, rooted in shared objectives and mutual agreements.
He further expressed optimism that the meeting would strengthen collective action and enhance rapid response capabilities to safeguard the region's security and stability. The Chief of Staff concluded with hopes for the meeting to bolster unity and joint efforts to counter regional threats, ensuring continued progress and prosperity for the GCC states.
Major General (Pilot) Issa bin Rashid Al Muhannadi, Assistant Secretary General for Military Affairs, also delivered remarks, conveying the greetings of Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, and expressing hopes for the meeting's success.
