Manama:Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Bin Dainah, Bahrain's Minister of Oil and Environment and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, highlighted the nation's preparedness in addressing various circumstances, emphasizing the coordination and integration among relevant entities. This coordination reflects the efficiency of national institutions under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Minister noted that Bahrain's environmental monitoring system demonstrated a high level of preparedness and efficiency during the Iranian attacks. A key focus was on monitoring and addressing radiation exposure risks, utilizing nine fixed and two mobile monitoring stations.
Air quality and environmental measurements were consistently monitored through 13 fixed air quality monitoring stations, complemented by field surveys with mobile equipment. The monitoring efforts extended to potential environmental impacts in territorial waters and coastal areas, tracking indicators related to oil spill risks in coordination with relevant authorities.
Dr. Bin Dainah underscored the importance of coordination in operational and environmental reporting, which enhances integrated monitoring efforts and ensures swift handling of developments. The use of advanced electronic and digital systems for continuous measurements allowed for accurate and continuous environmental monitoring.
The Minister emphasized that accurate assessment and early monitoring are crucial for environmental protection and risk management. In the energy sector, he assured that petrol and diesel supplies remained available to meet domestic market needs during the Iranian attacks, showcasing the supply system's sustainability and preparedness.
The experience gained during this period serves as a foundation for further development of environmental monitoring and measurement systems in Bahrain, raising preparedness levels.
