Bahrain Summit: Local Newspapers Highlight Kingdom’s Role in Strengthening Gulf Solidarity


Manama: Local newspaper editorials and opinion pieces have underscored the significance of the 46th Gulf Cooperation Council Summit, hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.



According to Bahrain News Agency, these articles highlight the summit’s role in advancing joint Gulf action, continuing efforts for a brighter future for the Gulf states, and developing mechanisms of Gulf cooperation in line with current challenges.



Al Bilad newspaper, in its editorial titled “Summit to Strengthen Stability and Prosperity,” emphasized the Kingdom’s position in supporting Gulf solidarity and integration as a strategic choice for the present and future of the Gulf states and peoples. The editorial noted Bahrain’s leading role in joint Gulf action, leveraging its expertise in dialogue and its strategic location to bridge differences within the framework of a shared destiny, especially amid rapid security and economic changes.



The editorial highlighted that the “Bahrain Summit” convenes at a crucial regional moment, as Gulf states aim to reframe regional security balances and adopt a new approach linking deterrence and diplomacy. The summit’s continuity in achieving practical projects that serve Gulf citizens is seen as vital for ensuring economic and food security, deepening infrastructure integration, and enhancing the capacity of Gulf institutions to confront challenges in energy, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity. This framework is expected to impact quality of life, employment opportunities, and the development of vital sectors, thus enhancing stability and prosperity in the region.



Anwar Abdulrahman, Editor-in-Chief of Akhbar Al Khaleej, wrote in his editorial, “Bahrain Summit and the Shared Destiny,” that throughout the GCC’s history, Bahrain has been a key supporter of the Council’s journey. He emphasized His Majesty the King’s consistent use of the expression ‘shared destiny,’ which encapsulates the unity of GCC states and peoples and guides the Council’s path. Abdulrahman hopes that the ‘Bahrain Summit’ will translate this shared destiny into a tangible reality, marking a historic turning point in joint Gulf action.



Rashid Nabil Al Hamar, Editor-in-Chief of Al Ayam newspaper, in his piece “Bahrain Summit and Strategic Gulf Integration,” lauded Bahrain’s hosting of the summit as a historic moment underscoring Gulf collaboration. He noted that the summit comes at a precise regional and international moment, offering Gulf states an opportunity to reinforce shared principles and launch a new phase of comprehensive strategic integration that ensures a secure and prosperous future.



Faisal Al Shaikh, in an article published by Al Watan newspaper titled “Bahrain Summit; A Summit of Decisive Moments,” highlighted the special importance of Bahrain’s presidency of the Gulf summit due to its leadership’s political wisdom and commitment to collective action. He emphasized His Majesty the King’s continuous support for peace, dialogue, and Gulf unity as a foundation for regional stability. Al Shaikh pointed out that the summit in Bahrain signifies the unity of destiny and aspirations among the Council’s states, with expectations for outcomes that enhance cooperation and open new horizons for prosperity and security.
