Manama: The Kingdom of Bahrain has issued a strong condemnation of the repeated missile and drone attacks by Iran on the State of Kuwait. It emphasized that these acts represent a blatant violation of Kuwait's sovereignty and security, as well as a serious breach of international law and the UN Charter. Bahrain asserted that these attacks contradict the principles of good-neighbourliness and violate UN Security Council Resolution 2817, ultimately undermining efforts towards de-escalation and posing a threat to regional security and stability.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Bahrain's unwavering solidarity with Kuwait, affirming its support for all measures taken by Kuwait to protect its sovereignty, security, and stability, in line with international law and Article 51 of the UN Charter. The Ministry emphasized that Kuwait's security is intrinsically linked to Bahrain's national security, and it praised the preparedness and effectiveness of the Kuwaiti armed forces and air defences in countering the attacks.
The Ministry reiterated Bahrain's call for the UN Security Council to uphold its responsibilities by taking decisive measures to ensure that Iran adheres to its international obligations and relevant resolutions. It urged the cessation of Iranian attacks against regional nations and populations. Additionally, Bahrain called for the protection of maritime navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and other critical waterways, the prevention of maritime piracy, and the bolstering of regional and international peace, security, and stability.
