Geneva: Ambassador Abdullah Abdullatif Abdullah, the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations Office and other international organisations at Geneva, delivered a joint statement on behalf of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The statement was presented during the general debate under Agenda Item 3 at the 61st session of the United Nations Human Rights Council.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the GCC member states and Jordan strongly condemned the Iranian attacks targeting the territories of several Arab and Islamic countries. These attacks were described as a violation of sovereignty and territorial integrity and a breach of international law and the United Nations Charter principles.
The statement highlighted that the attacks targeted civilian infrastructure, public service facilities, and residential areas, resulting in civilian casualties, injuries, and property damage. It emphasized that these actions, targeting countries not involved in the ongoing regional conflict, are a serious breach of international law and threaten regional and economic stability.
The GCC countries and Jordan stressed the importance of dialogue and diplomacy as the most effective means of resolving crises and ensuring regional stability and safety. They cautioned that further escalation could undermine regional security and lead to severe international peace and security consequences.
