Bahrain Delegation Engages in 218th IPU Governing Council Session

Arusha:Bahrain's parliamentary delegation actively participated in the 218th session of the Governing Council of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), which was part of the 153rd IPU Assembly held in Arusha, Tanzania, from October 5 to 9.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the delegation was led by Jamal Mohammed Fakhro, First Deputy Chairman of the Shura Council, and included Hala Ramzi Fayez, Shura Council member and Deputy Head of the delegation, as well as Council of Representatives members Hassan Ibrahim Hassan and Ali Saqr Al Doseri.

The delegation took part in electing Milton Dick, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Australia, as the IPU's 32nd President. Dick was elected for a three-year term after securing 56% of the votes in a single round of secret balloting.

In addition to the election, the Bahraini representatives engaged in discussions on decisions affecting the human rights of parliamentarians and participated in the adoption of reports from specialized meetings.
