Bahrain Condemns UNIFIL Attack and Engages in Diplomatic Activities


Manama: Bahraini daily newspapers today focused on local events that happened over the past 24 hours. The Kingdom of Bahrain has condemned the recent terrorist attack on the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, emphasizing its commitment to regional stability and international peacekeeping efforts.



According to Bahrain News Agency, the Bahraini government, led by HM King, has been actively engaging with international and regional partners in response to recent developments. The Bahrain Defence Force General Command reported the interception of 194 missiles and 523 drones since the onset of Iranian attacks, highlighting the ongoing security challenges in the region. Additionally, Bahrain welcomed the International Maritime Organization’s decision to condemn Iran’s closure of the Strait of Hormuz.



In diplomatic engagements, Bahrain and Bermuda signed a protocol amending their double taxation agreement, reflecting Bahrain’s efforts to strengthen international economic ties. The Foreign Minister received the Egyptian Ambassador to Bahrain, while the Finance Minister attended a Middle East Institute panel discussion, underscoring Bahrain’s active role in regional diplomacy.



Other significant activities included the Education Minister’s inspection visits to government schools and the Industry Minister’s meeting with the French Ambassador. The Health Undersecretary chaired a meeting of the GCC Health Council Executive Board, demonstrating Bahrain’s commitment to regional health initiatives.



In a move addressing regional security concerns, Bahrain’s Speaker discussed Iranian attacks with parliamentary counterparts. Bahrain’s UN Permanent Representative and Security Council President joined celebrations for the International Court of Justice’s 80th anniversary, and Bahrain chaired a UN Security Council session on South Sudan, commending UN peace efforts.



Furthermore, Bahrain participated in the election of the IPU Secretary-General at the 217th Governing Council session in Istanbul, and Bahrain Airport Services joined the International Air Transport Association’s Ground Handling Partnership Programme.
