Manama: As part of the Kingdom of Bahrain's presidency of the 46th session of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Khalid Humaidan, Governor of the Central Bank of Bahrain, chaired the 87th meeting of the Committee of Central Bank Governors of the GCC. The meeting saw the participation of Jassim Mohammed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), along with the governors of the central banks from GCC member states.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Humaidan, in his opening address, praised the ongoing dedication of GCC member states to enhance cooperation and coordination among their central banks. This collective effort aims to support financial and monetary stability within the region.
Humaidan also underscored the ongoing development within the financial and banking sector across the GCC. He emphasized its crucial role in fostering economic growth and promoting sustainable development.
The Committee deliberated on several important topics related to bolstering cooperation among GCC member countries. These included recommendations from committees and working groups on the implementation of GCC payment systems, supervision and oversight of the banking sector, and advancements in financial technologies within the GCC.
Additionally, the Committee addressed the exchange of cybersecurity information within the banking sector and assessed the efforts made by GCC member countries in combating money laundering and terrorist financing.
