Bahrain and Saudi Arabia Grands Prix Cancelled for April Due to Middle East Situation

Manama: It has been confirmed today that, after careful evaluations, due to the ongoing situation in the Middle East region, the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix will not take place in April. While several alternatives were considered, it was ultimately decided that no substitutions will be made in April. The Formula 2, Formula 3, and F1 Academy rounds will also not take place during their scheduled times. The decision has been taken in full consultation with the FIA and respective promoters.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1, stated that although the decision was challenging, it was the appropriate course of action given the current regional circumstances. He expressed gratitude towards the FIA and the promoters for their understanding and support, emphasizing the eagerness to return as soon as conditions permit.

Mohammed Ben Sulayem, FIA President, highlighted the priority of safety and wellbeing for the community and colleagues. He expressed hope for a swift return to stability in the region and extended his thoughts to those affected. He acknowledged the importance of Bahrain and Saudi Arabia in the racing season and looked forward to their return.

Shaikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa, Chief Executive of the Bahrain International Circuit, voiced support for the decision by Formula 1. He expressed gratitude towards Formula 1 and the FIA for their partnership and anticipated welcoming global fans back to Bahrain. He conveyed appreciation for the supportive messages received from the F1 community.

His Royal Highness Prince Khalid bin Sultan Al-Abdullah Al-Faisal, Chairman of the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation and Saudi Motorsport Company, respected the decision made regarding the 2026 race calendar. He acknowledged the anticipation among fans for the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix in Jeddah but understood the considerations behind the decision, emphasizing the ongoing partnership with Formula 1.
