Manama: As part of his official visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Honourable E. David Burt, JP, MP, Premier of Bermuda, announced that Bermuda has been granted the status of an official partner for maritime and air freight services. The meeting was attended by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Abdullah bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce, emphasized the importance of further developing bilateral relations between Bahrain and Bermuda, focusing on global transport, shipping services, and logistics. He highlighted the commitment of both sides to enhance cooperation and coordination to serve mutual interests and support sustainable economic development in both countries.
The agreement contributes to strengthening Bahrain’s position as a leading global logistics hub by establishing a functional framework to accelerate and integrate the movement of goods between maritime and air freight transport between the two countries. It facilitates the streamlining of customs and regulatory procedures for approved operators, ensuring a faster and more efficient cross-border flow of goods.
The announcement further supports operational efficiency by offering innovative solutions to connect ports and airports in both countries. It aims to bolster global supply chains by creating a secure trade corridor linking the Middle East and the North Atlantic region, thereby stimulating economic growth and providing new opportunities for logistics companies within a conducive investment environment under the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.
