Ottawa: Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to Canada and Resident Ambassador in Washington, met with Alexander Leveque, Assistant Deputy Minister for Europe, Arctic and Middle East Affairs at Global Affairs Canada, during the Ambassador's official visit to Canada. The meeting focused on strengthening the bilateral relations between Bahrain and Canada and addressing regional and international issues of mutual interest.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Ambassador emphasized the significance of enhancing bilateral cooperation and coordination to foster growth and prosperity for both countries and their citizens. He acknowledged the recent visit of Anita Anand, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada, to Bahrain, highlighting it as a testament to the strong ties between the two nations. The Ambassador also appreciated Canada's support and solidarity with Bahrain and the GCC countries in response to Iranian attacks and praised Canada's role in supporting Bahrain's initiatives at the United Nations Security Council concerning regional developments.
Furthermore, the Ambassador welcomed the outcome of the strategic dialogue between the GCC countries and Canada, which led to the creation of the Joint Action Plan for 2025-2029. This plan aims to establish an institutional framework for cooperation, furthering collaboration, advancing shared objectives, and supporting efforts to enhance security, stability, and development in the region and beyond.
