Rome: Dr. Jihad Abdullah Al Fadhel, Second Deputy Chairperson of the Shura Council, participated in a high-level consultative session organised by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) to develop an international guide on gender equality in food and agriculture systems. She outlined Bahrain's legislative and executive measures to enhance food security and ensure sustainable access to safe and sufficient nutrition for all.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Al Fadhel highlighted Bahrain's comprehensive approach under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. She noted that gender equality in Bahrain extends beyond law and policy to active participation across social, economic, and developmental fields.
She commended the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), chaired by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, for promoting women's engagement in key sectors, including agriculture and food production. The FAO lauded Bahrain's presentation and its progress in advancing food security and gender equality, describing the Kingdom as a proactive model in sustainable development and women's empowerment.
